Tara Christie, M.Sc., P.Eng

President & Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Christie has served as President & CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of Banyan since 2016. She has over 26 years of experience in the exploration and mining business. Prior to that, Ms. Christie was President of privately owned Gimlex Gold Mines Ltd. (2006-2016), one of Yukon's largest placer mining operations and consulted in exploration, mining, environmental assessment, government, community and First Nation relations, including working with First Nation development corporations. She is currently a member of the board of Western Copper and Gold Corporation. Ms. Christie previously served as a board member of Osisko Green Acquisition Limited, Constantine Metal Resources Ltd., Klondike Gold Corp., PDAC, AMEBC and other industry associations and was a founding board member of the Yukon Environmental and Socio-Economic Assessment Board (2004-2016). She is active in non-profits and charities, including being President of "Every Student, Every Day", a charity that works to improve attendance in Yukon schools. Ms. Christie has B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from the University of British Columbia and is a registered professional engineer in British Columbia and Yukon.


David Rutt, CMA, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Rutt is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA CMA) in Alberta and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Windsor. He has been a management consultant since September 2006 with a focus on senior management financial roles in private and public companies. During this time he has brought four companies public onto the Venture Exchange while holding the positions of President and/or Chief Financial Officer. In addition to his roles with Banyan Gold, Mr. Rutt is Chief Financial Officer of Stratus Aeronautics a private company developing unmanned aerial vehicles. Between October 2002 and March 2010, Mr. Rutt was the Secretary-Treasurer of Landis Energy. Between April 2009 and March 2010 he was the Chief Financial Officer of Landis Energy until it was sold.


Jasmine Sangria

Vice President, Corporate Communications

Ms. Sangria is a seasoned Brand Strategist with over 20 years of experience in innovative marketing and collaborative leadership. Prior to joining Banyan Gold, Ms. Sangria worked in the marketing industries in Vancouver and Whitehorse for the better part of two decades with brands such as Vespa®, Best Western, and the First Nations Chamber of Commerce and held positions as the Director of Marketing for Yukon Brewing and Two Brewers Whisky, and most recently the CEO of Tourism Lethbridge and Southern Alberta. During her tenure with Yukon Brewing, the brewery and distillery garnered northern and national recognition, including the distinction of being the only Yukon business shortlisted by Canadian Business magazine in the Top 100 for the 2015 Top 25 Brands in Canada. Through her community work and dedication, Ms. Sangria co-founded the Yukon Culinary Festival, leading it to national acclaim. She received the 2011 Golden Bravo award from the Yukon Convention Bureau for her partnership in the marketing and execution of BreakOut West Music Awards. As well, Ms. Sangria served as a Marketing Committee Chair and created the slogan, “Play Your Part”, for the 2012 Arctic Winter Games. Ms. Sangria has a Bachelor of Applied Design from Kwantlen University and a Master of Business Administration from University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business.


Kai Woloshyn

Vice President, Project Development

Mr. Woloshyn is a registered Professional Chemist with nearly 20 years of experience in mining and environmental consulting. His extensive experience in mine development, environmental assessment, permitting and reclamation along with First Nation engagement provides a strategic perspective to the approach required to develop new mines in Canada’s North. Mr. Woloshyn was the Environmental Manager for Alexco Resource Corp. (acquired by Hecla Mining in 2022) for over 10 years and was responsible for all environmental management and permitting matters for the Keno Hill Silver District Mining Operations. He was most recently the Vice President of Strategic Projects for Ensero Solutions, where he led Yukon exploration and mining projects through baseline data collection, environmental assessment and permitting processes. During his time with Alexco and Ensero, Mr. Woloshyn contributed to economic studies and advanced multiple projects towards operations. He has led First Nations and community consultation, including negotiation and implementation of several benefit agreements with various Yukon First Nations. Mr. Woloshyn holds a Bachelor of Science Combined Major in Chemistry and Earth & Ocean Sciences from University of Victoria. Mr. Woloshyn is a Yukoner based in Whitehorse.


James Thom

Exploration Manager

James Thom has worked in the exploration industry since 1997. He has expertise in developing drill targets from grass root exploration surveys, as well as experience in developing geological models and target refinement from more advanced stages of exploration. James has been involved in exploration programs in Western Canada, Mexico, Peru and the Dominican Republic. He has been involved in the design and implementation of geochemical, geophysical and geological surveys and drilling programs for many of these projects.
